Retail Attraction

The Retail Attraction Committee chaired by Madeleine Loh launched its efforts with the intention of pursuing prospective tenants to fill the needs expressed in what GLRAG termed its Top Ten Wish List.

Although the Retail Attraction Committee has been actively courting businesses that fit the above needs, Madeleine has been pursuing a parallel and equally important path seeking to establish a working relationship with area property owners–particularly on Grand Avenue, which lacks the advantages provided by the Lakeshore Business Improvement District. With a gentle push, half a dozen Grand property owners have begun to take a few tentative steps in that direction. One particularly encouraging sign is they have indicated an interest in Grand Avenue traffic calming measures–one of the key problems identified in the GLRAG survey.

In addition, the Retail Attraction Committee is maintaining an online list of current vacancies and has compiled a comprehensive list of all commercial properties in the district. The latter information was used in building the updated Lakeshore Avenue website (www.lakeshoreave.net) and will come in handy as well when the Grand Avenue Business Association (GABA) goes online.
